Problem and Solution
A rapidly growing fictional software company is experiencing communication breakdowns between teams. Products are not launching on time. The CEO is upset and is blaming you for the delays. In this choose your own adventure style experience, the user is challenged to make decisions that will help the teams adopt an agile mindset and increase production. By choosing the best approach at each junction, the learner can secure their job and get bonuses for the teams.
Mind Mapping
First, I used an action map to establish the overall goal for this project and to identify the necessary actions to streamline work and increase production.
Storyboarding
Next, I created a text-based storyboard as a blueprint for the project. I started by analyzing the audience and identifying the necessary actions they would need to take to solve this specific problem. The storyboard incorporates the actions identified in the mind map and translates them into a realistic and relatable situation that uses simple, everyday language.
Visual Mockups
After that, the visual mockups were created in Figma. I began the prototyping process by creating the layout and choosing my background. I used Photoshop to remove the background from the mentor character and then flipped her position in Storyline. This was an iterative process, and the final product was modified and optimized in Storyline.
Development
The full development was performed in Articulate Storyline 360. This part of the process was straightforward since the elements had already been created, and the programming framework for each consequence had been designed. I tested and iterated to be sure that all the slides were linked properly as shown in the images below. Finally, I checked each slide for accessibility, ensuring that the text in the dialogue boxes was visible as alt text.
